Are your objects of tactile reality not quite giving you enough depth, dimension and shading? Neither are mine and thankfully Swedish designers Front are exhibiting their “Shade” project at Spazio Rossana Orlandi during this years Milan furniture fair. Using standard silhouettes of common household items and shading them as if on paper, the designer states his intriguing designs are “like materialized s.” This is what home furnishing would look like if Dr. Seuss and M.C. Escher had a child that smoked really good pot and listened to A-Ha.

Recently designed by Polish student Jacek Ryn this accordion USB drive protects itself when not in use using a silicone case. The casing is made of a colored silicone and makes smart use of the materials’ natural elasticity to reveal the plug when pushed into the socket, and automatically slip back when removed.

Good afternoon Mr. Bond. Welcome to my lair. I can imagine the gleam in young Jérôme Olivet’s eyes, as a child watching all those super click 007 villains and their even slicker evil lairs. Note: Evil geniuses have “lairs”, simple criminals have “hideouts.” It must have taken a mad genius to come up with this architectural design dubbed “JET HOUSE” by Jérôme Olivet. This three story grounded space craft comes complete with an elevator, two jet-car garage and will be the definition of architectural elegance in the year 2250 or an alternate dimension. In case it is not obvious, this is a home design.

Nice Red Jugs

Take a look at this next item up for scrutiny. Wow, there are so many pun and sexual references I could make right now about the name alone; “Cup & Jug”(hehe). My brain is about to explode but I will try to restrain myself. Who said jugs of water need to be filled through the same hole you pour from? Not me and not design house Vert Design. Resembling a human organ farmed from a Canadian tourist in Tijuana, the “Cup & Jug” is an exploration of fluidity, interaction and function.” A simple rotation of the wrist and hand results in a natural pouring action, unlike other conventional jugs. Since this is an Australian design, will I have to use my other wrist to pour water?Designer: Vert Design

Car Seatbelts in Life

A range of products produced from salvaged car seatbelts. These highly engineered safety components destined for life in the scrap yard are transformed into desirable products.
This wall mounted key holder cleverly changes the context of the buckle, while retaining the “arriving and leaving” element of using a seatbelt. Over time, plugging in your keys becomes as much of a habit as putting on you’re seatbelt.
